These heaters were purchased as a replacement for baseboard heaters for space considerations. Be aware that these heaters ARE NOISY and not suitable for bedroom applications if you are a light-to-moderate sleeper. We also had them installed in the family room and they interfere with the ability to hear the television and now we are constantly cycling the volume up and down. The application in the kitchen is fine, but will be looking for a lower decibel alternative in the very near future.

The hose works as designed however be sure your order the right one or you'll have to try and return it. The ends seem a little weak though or maybe I just over tightened the adapters.

Soleus Air MAC-12 12,000 BTU Evaporative Portable AC/Dehumidifier/Heater and Fan with Remote Review

I didn't buy the soleus mac12K at amazon but rather from a retail outlet here in southern CA.After being disappointed with an earlier purchase that I made online, I decided to go into a brick and mortar store and ask the relevent questions.

I was told by the salesman that the reason that the previous air conditioner doesn't work was becuase of the single hose exhuast. The soleus, with it's dual hose design and 12000 btu of cooling power would make my 170 sq ft room freeze. That turned out to be an outright lie.

I started out by testing the air conditioner in the living room with a sliding door. The unit worked well for the first few minutes, cooling the room from about 90 to 87 degrees. Then the compressor would stop running and the cooling mode acted like fan mode and started heating the room back to over 90 degrees.I would be able to get the compressor to work again by unplugging the ac plug and then starting the ac again. The same problem repeated.

Then I moved the air conditioner into the kitchen. It was about 95 degrees to begin with and it only got to 92 and did not drop even after an hour. There were no problems here with the compressor turning off for no reason.

Then I moved the air condtioner into the bedroom. It was able to cool the room down only a few degrees.Besides being loud, it also takes up a lot of current, 12A to be exact and 1350W of power. This would repeatedly trip up the circuit breaker if other appliances such as iron or computers were to be used that were on the same circuit.

The air conditioner appeared to work better when the outside temperature was below 80 degrees. But even then, it does not cool the room below 72.But with the outside temperature in the mid to upper 90s, the room would be in the mid to upper 80s.About the only thing that worked as advertised was that there was no bucket to empty.

I ended up returning the unit after a week with a 25% restocking fee.I was offered an exchange but didnt' even bother.

Broke again!

Update- the unit stopped working again on 5/1/09- same problem stuck thermostat- technician installedinstalled a one way valve between the heater and the Chlorinator cell citing backflow of highly chlorinated PH+ water into the thermostat. 100.00 dollar repair for parts and labor. Problem I have with this theory is that the cell was on the far side of a purposefully designed u turn to avoid this from the start- well see.

Purchased this along with several other components during a pool replaster & remodel the Spring of 08

This was bought along with a slew of new components that I will start reviewing -a new jandy RS 8 Automation system, solar panels, pentair quad de 60 filter, goldline chlorinator.

I decided to review this component first because Im having issues with it.

The heater is tiny - like a little 3 foot cube - way smaller than my old raypak 2100. Its form factor allows really tight installation, and I tucked it away in the back corner of the yard.

The unit is designed to be controlled with an automation system primarily, but also has a manual control panel underneath a plastic smoked little flip cover on the front. It hides a few functions- a power button, pool /spa selector, & a red led readout for temp and error codes, and a temperature up and down button. When manually changing temps, the display will react to panel button pushes then switch back to the current temperature flowing through the unit.

There are a few major issues you must consider and design for before you add a heater of this magnitude to your system.

It requires MASSIVE flow of natural gas,so much I had to completely rebuild my homes feed from the street to the side of the house to keep it running. I suggest having your gas provider do a load survey on your home before you even consider putting in a heater this powerful.

It requires at least 38GPM of water at all times including during the heaters "cool down" period. The unit will not fire up without at least a 38GPM flow through it so pools using smaller 1/4-1/2 HP circulationpumps are not likely to flow enough water to even let it fire- likewise even with larger pumps a filter that hasn't been cleaned in a while that has higher pressure may cause the unit to run intermittently or begin "cycling" as well.

The unit achieves its lox Nox capabilities by using a clever forced fed firebox using a fan. This is different technology than legacy heaters most are familiar with. You need to prepare yourself and the install site for increased noise, and heat. All vegetation in the exhaust stream- all organic matter I've seen in the exhaust path will be dead within months.

Once activated a slightly loud fan comes on and then after a few clicks-it fires up with a rumbly whooomf !

Frankly its a bit overkill for a normal 21K gallon pool. Just the way I like it. Its performance for its size is staggering, almost commercial pool like in its heat output. This thing could scorch the earth when running.

Unfortunately for me the unit had broken twice since May 08,
The first time it wouldn't fire up then shut off.
It took weeks to get a diagnosis.
Pool guy said he diagnosed it as an igniter &ordered parts & the parts never showed. After 4 more weeks of not having a heater I called a warranty center and the factory repairman came out. The guy literally replaced 5-6 different components costing upwards of 100 dollars each-over the course of half a day looking for the magic combo that would make it work.

The broken part was the very last thing that could have broken - the gas block. Im still trying to figure out what could even go wrong with a solid looking block of metal.

Access to the inside is a breeze and thats a good thing. Each panel has basically 4 bolts holding the panel on. It is easy to get to the components, and the system has onboard diagnostics but its hard to actually nail down problems as the on board diagnostics dont seem to be able to pinpoint issues really well as each problem required multiple investigations.

A month ago it started firing up and clicking off.Another multi- diagnostic problem. My pool guys diagnosed an igniter - again.
Another factory guy came out and traced the problem to a stuck internal thermostat. After replacing the internal t-stat the service guy traced its sticking to the water chemistry being "off" and showed me a corroded t-stat.

My chlorinator handles chlorine and I measure Ph weekly-if this is true one can NEVER let chemistry be off for any amount of time? That just isnt how pools work, all chemistry is a bounce bewteen a few point on each end measurement. - Or does this thing have a run of bad parts?

So Im building a love hate relationship with this part - (like the Miele blue moon vaccum in another review) I love it when it runs, but it doesn't seem to run reliably.

Ace Pro Com MD200TBA Dual Fuel Wall Heater 20k Btu - Blue Flame Review

Ace Pro Com MD200TBA Dual Fuel Wall Heater 20k Btu - Blue Flame
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I haven't had the heater long enough to comment on its durability or cost of operation, but I've read reviews from customers who've owned them for up to 8 years (apparently as long as they've been made)with no problems, and many reviews that rave about how little propane they use. (One reviewer said 1/10th as much as his previous--very popular name-brand--portable gas heater.)

It is the handsomest, most unobtrusive, simplest to install and operate, most beautifully designed heater of any kind I have ever seen--and the professional LP man who hooked it up was blown away by the excellence & simplicity of the mechanisms and the accuracy of the thermostat. He had never seen or heard of a gas heater that could use either LP or NG w/no adjustments or conversion kit.

We bought it as a supplement to our vented Jotul propane stove, but I swear it could heat our small two-story house by itself. It was our sole source of heat last week as we waited for the Jotul to be installed, and the second-lowest setting on the (five settings) thermostat is the highest we've turned it.With nighttime temps in the lower 20s this week, even at thelowest setting we've several times shut it off completely because our upstairs bedrooms were too warm. On the next mornings it took no time at all to warm up the house.Just amazing!

I didn't buy the blower fan, knowing that the best possible heat-distribution is via ceiling fans reversed on low speed, which we already have.

The enamel is beautiful, a soft ivory white. The heater can be wall-hung or sit right on a hard floor, but because I changed my mind and decided to put it in the carpeted hall instead of a wood floor, I ordered the neat little bolt-on feet that raise it 2". Because we are not sure where we might most want some extra heat once the Jotul is hooked up, we had an extra gas cock installed in another room so we can move it to where it's needed. It is easily moved, its shipping weight was just 20 lbs. incl. the heavy box & packing material.Only 8" deep, it fits right against a wall and needs only 2" clearance on the sides.

At this point it seems simply too good to be true. The air has been very dry, and the moisture generated by unvented LP heaters has been a blessing rather than a problem. My house is a century old and there's enough fresh air exchange that I don't worry anyway, but the built-in ODS is a comfort. There is no odor at all that I can discern.I didn't even notice anything the least bit bothersome about the new-heater odor they tell you to expect the first hour or so of operation.Absolutely silent except for the normal little clicking as the metal expands when the thermostat kicks in.

If there's something worth mentioning as I use the heater, I will add it to this review. But for now I'll just say that this just might be the best heating buy in the universe.Who needs $10,000 furnaces?

I had one of these units and it ended up it the trash after 18 months of use.

Mine leaked all over the floor and carpet.

Since these units are prone to leakage, why would anyone buy it?

Replacing carpets and wood is an expensive proposition, perhaps far more than the unit costs.

Forget service. No one services these units.

DeLonghi PAC-A130HPE 13,000 BTU Air to Air Portable AC with Heat Pump & R410A Refrigerant Gas Review

We purchased this through Amazon after researching other models. DeLonghi has a good reputation for quality products and Amazon for being a reputable dealer.

When our box arrived, the box was damaged. No straps on the package as it should have per the writing on the box.
Upon opening the box, we did find that one side of the unit was not closed completely as though someone had been trying to open the panel on the unit. One of the castor wheels was broken and we were missing the window locking pins. All the other accessories were there. As instructed, we allowed the unit to sit upright for 24 hours before starting it, as we were sure the unit had been on its side during its transport to us.

We followed the instructions in the manual as well as the easy setup card attached to the unit and hooked up the exhaust venting and plugged the unit in to the appropriate outlet. One thing is the unit rolls on castor wheels which was a plus for us but given that one of our wheels was broken it made it a bit difficult rolling it. Very easy set-up. Once the unit started up and we had the A/C mode running you could feel the airflow from 10 feet away. I'm not sure why a previous poster said he/she couldn't feel the cool air as ours was more than adequate using the low speed setting. The remote control that comes with the unit is very convenient. One issue we found was that once you put the batteries in the remote, you need to set the time on it right away. There is no function to reset the time unless you take the batteries out and put them back in again. Just a quirk and not a big deal.

Within 30 minutes we could already feel the coolness in our house. We checked the exhaust to see if it was working properly and it was. Noise level is not intrusive and in fact quieter than most non portable air conditioners that are placed in windows.

One feature we like about this unit is that you do not have to empty any water from the unit until end of season. Filter is washable a big plus. Storage bags for both the unit and the accessories.

We contacted DeLonghi about the missing and broken parts and they are sending them to us. Castor wheel is on backorder so that will take several weeks to get.

Overall, so far we give this a 5 star rating.
