Mr. Heater MH125LP Salamander 125,000-BTU Portable Propane Radiant Heater Review

But unlike their tiny portable units there is NO WAY to turn down the heat. 125000 BTUs is a LOT of heat, enough for nearly 3000 square feet. But it consumes nearly 5.5 gallons of propane per hour to do so. That would be OK for really cold conditions. But it is all or nothing. There is no thermostat or , as previously stated, way to turn down to a lower heat setting. I found a similar unit at Grainger that has three heat settings, (50/95/125,000 BtuH Output) and is priced the same, so I am sending this one back.

Radiators work by heating oil enclosed in a reservoir, gradually heating the surrounding air. If heating speed isn't an issue, you might want to opt for a radiator. These are extremely quiet and effective--perfect for bedrooms.
If you want a heater that will be available in emergencies, or that can heat areas larger than a single room, choose a "combustion" model--one that is powered by a gas or fuel like propane, kerosene, natural gas, or diesel. Which fuel type you choose depends largely on convenience and local availability. For example, diesel would be appropriate for a heater you take with you on long car trips. Heaters are rated by BTU, which stands for British Thermal Unit (the amount of heat needed to heat one pound of water by 1 degree F). To find out how many BTU you need:
Calculate the volume of the space to be heated by multiplying square footage by height.
Multiply that number by 4 if your insulation is poor, 3 if it's average, or 2 if it's good.
Do space heaters cost a lot to operate?
As a general rule, electric space heaters are more expensive to use than combustion models. To ensure energy efficiency, a thermostat is a must-have feature for any heater. (More customer reviews)I got this for my boyfriend for christmas, and he hasn't had alot of time to judge the product since it's been warm out, but these are his initial responses:
Pro:Heats up his feet quickly and they stay warm.
Cons: They can get uncomfortably hot if left on for too long.The strap to hold the batteries isn't uncomfortable or problematic, but it is inconvienent.Also, the shoe insert will slide backwards, so unless you want to adhere it to your shoe, it will become very irritating.

(More customer reviews)This is the fifth Lasko tower fan I've purchased. I got one for my brother, my son and my grandma. It is quiet, which is awesome for my OCD brother who hates loud sounds. It has amazing cooling power, which helps my son who doesn't have AC in his room. And my grandma who can't walk loves that she can control it with the remote. The tower design allows you to put it anywhere and it looks nicer and has much more power than a stand fan.

(More customer reviews)Bought this and returned it the next day.It couldn't keep the flame lit due to the new safety vaulve on the propane tanks...kept fizzling out after a few seconds.The lighter included fell apart after one or two times of trying to light it.The threads on both ends of the hose weren't quite right, and we had a very difficult time getting them onto the torch and the propane tank.It's made in China, so the quality wasn't too surprising.

(More customer reviews)I ordered 16 Solar Sun Rings for my pool and quickly discovered they are poorly designed, shoddily made and worthless.These items must be inflated and have 2 air pockets/ring.The welds are poorly done -- on one ring had a seam clearlynot welded and open,most other rings leaked air slowly.Almost 40% had air leaks after one week.The materials are of very low quality -- a cheap child's toy costing around $5.00 at Walmart is better made.The design is also flawed.A slight breeze causes them to bunch together.The manufacturer suggested letting more air out but several rings were already partially under water and sinking! Without a doubt, this is one of the worst products I have ever seen.The 2 year warranty is a joke -- no refunds from the manufacturer, only replacements, and the supplier also refused (initially) to give a refund.it took the great services of Amazon and lots of e mail activity too finally get the refund.I strongly urge prospective buyers to check this product out carefully before buying -- it really is worthless!

(More customer reviews)It looks amazingly like a real wood fire in our fireplace.It's easy to install, as long as your fire box is big enough, and you have a nearby electrical outlet.This "deluxe" model DFI2310 differs from the standard model DFI2309 by having a larger, brighter, even more realistic flame, for a somewhat higher price.The heaters can be turned off completely, for when it's warm, but you want that cozy fireplace ambiance.
On the "needs improvement" end, the remote control only turns the insert on and off;it does not control the optional heating elements, which can only be turned on or off at the unit itself.Mine arrived with all switches "on" so I got heat as soon as it was plugged in.It would be better to ship with all switches set to "off."
Also, there's no crackle or pop sound, so if wood fire sounds are important to you, this is not the electrical insert for you. However, if crackles and pops aren't that important to you, and you're looking for a very realistic looking, reasonably-priced unit with heating options, this is one well worth considering.
